Let the Packing Begin!

The time has come to begin packing my life for the move to Minneapolis.  With a little over two weeks left in Cincinnati and my excitement building, I need to pack.  The first step was sorting through everything into a Keep pile and Trash pile.  I ended up filling four trash bags with shredded papers, receipts, and countless “keepsakes” that I held onto for no reason.  My life’s processions must be whittled down enough for everything to fit into my Montero Sport (aka The Drewtero).

Moving day is December 30.  I will make my way to Chicago where I will celebrate New Years with some Chicago friends.  The first day of 2009 will be spent driving from Chicago to Minneapolis.  Starting the year off right, right?!  Chicago might be a great place to slowly transition myself from a guy accustomed to the temperatures in Cincinnati to the temps in Minneapolis.  I suspect The Drewtero will need some time to adjust as well.

The one and only thing I remember from my first flight to wintertime Minneapolis was watching the ground from the plane’s window.  You begin to notice the earth turn white.  Countless white patches that look like round snow covered fields that might grow corn during a warmer season.  Then you realize that they are, in fact, not fields.  Rather, they are lakes frozen solid enough to drive on with your car.  The thought of driving a car on frozen water is insane to someone south of the Great Lakes.  Seriously.

Best wishes on the move. My move to Minneapolis was in February. Thankfully, the blizzard started after I arrived.

Drewtero is going to miss the mild winter weather of Cincinnati.
