Waiting for Snow in Minneapolis

The photo above is a view from the front yard at 10:00am this morning in NE Minneapolis.

Today, I wait for snow.  The snow hype started yesterday afternoon after reports of a snow storm headed to the Twin Cities by the National Weather Service.

Here’s the forecast from the National Weather Service:

  • “Today: Snow. The snow could be heavy at times. Some thunder is also possible. High near 28. Blustery, with a north northeast wind between 15 and 20 mph, with gusts as high as 28 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Total daytime snow accumulation of 5 to 9 inches possible.”

Naturally, the Minnesotans I know are very skeptical of the possible snow accumlation numbers provided in the forecast.  However, I am not a skeptic.  I want to see it snow nine inches this afternoon!  It is possible that after I see that kind of snow I may never want to see it again.  Right now I want to see it.

Last night, I made a bet with AJ (follow him on Twitter @Ajaxparty) that we would get 6.5 inches or more of snow today.  If it snows more than 6.5 inches I will get a pack of Klondike bars.  If we get less than my bet of snow, AJ will get candy bars.  So let it snow!  Drew wants some Klondike bars!

Updates are happening all day here on Drewko.com.  Beginning with the first snow flake I see fall from the sky.

By the way, Thunder Snow?  Seriously?
