End of a Week, Beginning of a New Search

I would like to apologize for slacking here on Drewko.com as I have been ridiculously distracted by other things.  I know that’s not an excuse.

As you may know, I have spent the last three weeks preparing my resume, sending it out to prospective employers, following up and attempting to stay positive.  The daily news is telling me that more and more companies are laying off employees, cutting jobs and budgets, closing stores and filing for bankruptcy.  Not the best news when you’re eagerly seeking employment in a new city.

The simple occurrence of not getting a single response feels like rejection in itself.  I have rewritten my resume four times, included and excluded past experience in the job world.  The goal here is not to appear under qualified nor over qualified.  Part of moving to Minneapolis was the idea of a career change.  New city, new job, new chapter in life.  How quickly I forget the goal here.

Accounting + Drew = I need a change.

So why am I applying to all of these accounting related positions?  The simple answer: FEAR.

I have decided to rewrite my resume once again.  This time there has to be an attempt to write the REAL resume that I wanted to create in the first place.  I firmly believe that personal growth begins with taking a risk.  Crawling out on that limb to grasp that one piece of fruit that you know will be delicious.  Yummy fruit.

Today is Friday.  Cheers to enjoying the weekend and starting fresh on Monday.

    dear drew,
i have thought long and hard and have decided… you need to get a job. he he he he. maybe you should work in retail. i mean… how hard is it to fold clothes? they even give you one of those plastic boards to use to make the t-shirts look perfectly folded. i mean what an amazing invention.
    sincerely,
