What would a greenhouse be without an urban garden?  In this case it would only be half as cool.  After a sunny Minneapolis weekend, the Johnson Street Urban Garden  started to take shape.  100 square feet of garden bed was tilled by hand (and shovel) and 100+ plants were moved from the greenhouse into the ground.

Shawn and I (self-proclaimed urban gardeners) also planted some seeds in the top garden bed and other areas around the yard.  Love-Lies-Bleeding seeds were planted on the top garden bed.  Skyscraper Sunflowers were planted along the fence in hopes of growing a “living wall” along the property line.  Skyscraper sunflowers can grow up to 12 feet tall.  Lady Bird Poppies are sprinkled randomly all over the yard.

Now we wait.  The anticipation is killing me.

It has been four months since I launched Drewko.com in June.  Now with four long/short months under my belt, I am finally starting to figure out where I want to take this project.

Having remembered this a few days ago, I gathered my Innovation/Creative Team for an emergency meeting. We needed to discuss the future of Drewko. We inked ideas on paper, set some goals, made some plans…By the way, my Innovation/Creative team consists of me, a large cup of coffee, a notebook, and my laptop. Needless to say, the meeting went very well.  It was heated at times but otherwise very productive.

It is amazing how much you can learn in four months.  When I originally started Drewko.com, I had a very blurry vision of the future for this project.  I blame that on that fact that I didn’t really have a very crisp vision of the next step in my own life, much less a vision for a project that is essentially reflective of what I am doing in life.  Luckily, I figured stuff out and it’s going to be a fantastic ride.

As a result of the Innovation/Creative Team meeting a few days ago, I decided to re-launch Drewko.com today.  It may just be a symbolic action on my part, in an attempt to start fresh and reconnect with the original initiative I had four months ago.  Great news for you, by the way.

First, I would like to re-introduce myself:
My name is Drew Koehler and I love you.  Well, maybe I don’t love you right now, but there’s a good chance that I will at least like you in the near future.

Recently, I was required to take a personality test for work.  A professional personality evaluation to assist my employer in understanding how I work, etc.  The results came back to tell me something that my mother could have just told them had they asked…I am a “Creative Type” with big ideas due to my continuous dreaming of what is possible.

I constantly feel a drive to explore the world.  Break free and run wild.  I need to run free like a wild stallion.  Nay!  I know I am not alone in that thought.

Anyway, I’ll save you from a rant and just simply invite you to get involved with Drewko.  Read daily.  I strongly encourage everyone to Leave a Comment when you feel it.  Tell a friend or two.

I want to know you, so shoot me an e-mail anytime, about anything.  Leave comments on posts.  Leave comments about comments on posts.  This is the beginning of a great adventure for both us.

So, I’m not a violent person, and I lack the ability to understand what can drive someone to find it necessary to physically hurt someone else.  I was in a fight once in junior high, which consisted of another guy putting up his fists and punching me in the eye, after which, I ran for my life.  Some people do not share that trait and find it necessary to defend their honor (short stature/small penis?)…

Dragged Away by Security

The security at this bar came up behind me, grabbed me, and dragged me away from the scene because I was documenting the fight with my camera.  I didn’t resist this huge bouncer at all, but I did snap a few pictures as he took me across the street to give me to the police.

The police officer got out of his car and apologized for the security of Cadillac Ranch in downtown Cincinnati…He obviously knew the “Assault Laws” and profusely apologized for the bouncer.  Obviously, I didn’t press charges when the officer asked if that was something I wanted to do that night.

Since I found myself across the street in the action again, I took this shot of the street fighters, in hand cuffs along the wall.  Stupid fools.  Who fights at a bar?  Stupid ass fools, that’s who.

So, remember the girls that were distraught and pleading with their violent boyfriends to stop fighting…to stop beating up bar patrons..to stop attacking bar security…Well, I guess they got over it.

Prepare yourself for the growth of Drewko- it’s coming, hard and strong. Today it’s more of a grow-er as opposed to a show-er…Which I’m comfortable with now.
